Zenoff Park (west), Schmeeckle Reserve Visitor Center
(east)
The Holiday Trail spans from Zenoff Park (west) to the Green Circle Trailhead on
the edge of Schmeeckle Reserve (east). It
travels through a forested area, following a small stream past meadows and
active ponds.
Bricks from a Wetland?
In the 1870s, a brickyard owned by Edward Langenberg was located
along this section of trail. Pits were dug to excavate clay from the
creek bed. Today the pits have become wetland ponds, ideal habitat
for many wildlife species like frogs, turtles, and herons.
What's in a Name?
Until 2005, a Holiday Inn hotel stood at the intersection of
Business 51 and North Point Drive. Hotel users accessed the trail
from this section.
Zenoff Park
The Holiday Trail provides access to Zenoff Park (Stevens Point city
park). Zenoff is well known for its world-class softball fields, and
has hosted several national tournaments. The park also provides
restrooms, a picnic area, playground equipment, a concession stand,
and two lighted volleyball courts.
